Wood & Leather Master Craftsman
In the heart of the Marrakech medina, Master Hajel preserves a rare craft where hand-carved wood and genuine leather meet in pieces deeply rooted in Moroccan tradition. In his workshop, each creation is shaped slowly, entirely by hand, using cedar wood, thuya or brass, with simple tools: knives, chisels, gouges and fine saws. Nothing is industrialized, nothing is outsourced. Every object carries the mark of gesture, time and patience, reflecting an artisan’s absolute respect for raw materials.
His genuine leather and carved wood bellows, once used in traditional blacksmith workshops, are now given a second life as decorative objects. The solid wood structure is carved and assembled before being covered with thick leather, hand-nailed piece by piece. Each model is unique, featuring Amazigh engravings, geometric lines, protective symbols or forms inspired by Morocco’s rural heritage.
Master Hajel is also renowned for his wall talismans and Berber amulets. Each piece is cut, engraved and polished by hand, then adorned with ancestral symbols such as Tifinagh script, protective diamonds, floral motifs or representations of the Hand of Fatima. These objects are not mere decorations; they embody living memory, quiet spirituality and an intimate connection between artisan and material.
By choosing a creation by Master Hajel on Online Medina, you support an artisan whose work is based on family transmission and a deep commitment to Amazigh culture. Here, every sculpture tells a story, and every detail expresses a heritage passed down through generations.
