Pierced Metalwork by Master Hilab
In the medina of Marrakech, Master Hilab preserves the rare craft of pierced metalwork. In his workshop, every piece is shaped entirely by hand from brass or a carefully selected tin–silver alloy. Each design begins with a precise drawing, then the metal is cut, pierced, hammered and polished using traditional techniques that give every creation its unique character. Hilab works without industrial molds: every opening, curve and texture reflects a patient, controlled gesture repeated over years of practice.
His collections include oriental pierced lamps, sculpted candle holders, decorative wall sconces, stylized animals, engraved Hand of Fatima plaques, and many types of wall art. Master Hilab’s style is recognizable in his delicate floral and geometric patterns, the precision of his cutwork, and the subtle balance he creates between shadow and light. When a lamp is lit, it casts moving patterns that transform the room and reveal the soul of his craft.
Some pieces are made from recycled brass or polished tin, reinforcing the sustainable nature of his work. Nothing is imported: each object is imagined, drawn and crafted locally, inside the medina. By choosing a creation from Master Hilab on Online Medina, you support an independent artisan and an authentic Moroccan tradition, far from mass-produced items. Every piece carries a gesture, a material and an artistic vision deeply rooted in Moroccan heritage.
