Muell’s Artisan Rug Weavings
Based in Oued Zem, in the Béni Mellal–Khénifra region, Master Muell preserves one of the most emblematic weaving traditions of central Morocco. In his family workshop, each rug is entirely handwoven using natural wool that is washed, carded and prepared following ancestral methods. His signature aesthetic draws from the geometric languages of the Zayan and Zemmour tribes: clean lines, protective symbols, earthy tones and subtle blue accents. The result is a refined minimalism that fits perfectly into modern interiors while remaining deeply rooted in Moroccan identity.
Unlike industrial productions, Muell’s rugs are created through a slow and intentional process. Every strand of wool is placed manually on the loom, giving each design a rhythm, a density and a personality of its own. The tactile quality of his work comes from this meticulous approach: thick textures, durable fibers and a finish that ages beautifully over time. No two pieces are ever the same — each rug carries the imprint of the artisan’s hand and the quiet energy of traditional craftsmanship.
Muell also produces woven poufs, cushions and wall textiles, all crafted from the same natural fibers. This consistency allows him to offer cohesive sets that appeal to clients seeking both authenticity and contemporary elegance. His work bridges tradition and modern design, giving each creation a unique and timeless character.
Owning a rug from Muell’s workshop means supporting a craft rooted in heritage and community. It is an invitation to bring into your home a piece of Morocco’s living culture — a woven story shaped by skill, patience and generations of knowledge.
